Swami Vidyananda teaches classical Yoga for the modern mind. The following is a sample of the courses she has taught around the world.

Hatha Yoga: postures, relaxation and breathing

Swami Vidyananda teaches Integral Yoga® Hatha based on the style of Swami Satchidananda. She teaches therapeutic Hatha Yoga for stress management, emotional healing, and persons with physical limitations. She teaches chair poses for energizing breaks at work, and adaptive chair yoga for less active and senior students.

Integral Yoga Hatha is comfortable, enjoyable, and envigorating. By including deep relaxation, breathing, and meditation, it leads to a profound experience of peace and well being, and aids in healing.

Meditation

Meditation is the foundation of personal transformation. It leads to everyday happiness and deep peace. Through meditation, stress is naturally reduced and creative living is enhanced. Vidyananda teaches classical meditation theory and practice. She has also adapted meditation for stress reduction, and is expert at helping students with active minds to find focus and peace through simple, relaxed meditation techniques.

Integral Yoga Stress Management

Studies of Stress management have shown that the best approach is one that integrates mental and physical techniques for stress release. Integral Yoga does that and more: it puts us in touch with our unshakeable, peaceful center. The techniques are simple, fast, portable, and don’t add stress to your busy day.

Swami Vidyananda developed the Integral Yoga Teacher Training for Stress Management in collaboration with Swami Ramananda, Luis Surya Sierra Phd., and Jo Jaya Applebaum MA.

Yoga and the Emotions

Integral Yoga has powerful tools for transforming emotions and integrating blocked energy. Vidyananda’s approach to Yoga for emotional healing includes:

Raja Yoga

Swami Satchidananda’s Integral Yoga is based on The Yoga Sutras of Sri Patanjali, which are the foundation of Yoga philosophy and practice. The Sutras teach classical Ashtanga Yoga (the eight-fold path), meditation, and a deep understanding of the nature of the mind. Swami Vidyananda’s courses cover the practical application of the Sutras. She also teaches Raja Yoga for Yoga Teacher training, both for Integral Yoga and other Yoga schools.

The Koshas

We function on many levels: physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. Classical Yoga teaches how to work through these different layers (called Koshas, or subtle bodies) to integrate our whole being and recover our happiness and health. This is the basis for mind-body healing and emotional balance. Vidyananda teaches the koshas as a component of Yoga teacher training, stress management, and Yoga and the emotions.

Jnana Yoga

Jnana Yoga teaches how to use the intellect to develop the inner witness, and to rise above the struggles of the mind itself. Jnan has the same root as Zen, and it’s the Yoga path that is closest to Buddhism.
